The distribution exercise coincided with the re-opening of all Government and Government Assisted Schools across the country on Monday.

On arrival in Makeni on Monday, Mr. Amara Sowa informed journalists at the various distribution centers that the target beneficiaries are school children. He added that the ministry would frown on any school authority that acts contrary to the spirit of the free quality education package as envisaged by the initiator President Julius Maada Bio.

He called on school authorities across the country to ensure that the exercise books are distributed to the beneficiaries without any pre-condition. He warned that anyone caught stealing/selling the free exercise books, will be arrested and thoroughly dealt with to serve as example to others.

He also called on parents and guardians to ensure they monitor the distribution exercise and make sure that only targeted beneficiaries get supplies of free exercise books.

Parents and guardians and school children in Makeni expressed delight over the introduction of the Free Quality Education initiative of President Julius Maada Bio and called on him to ensure that the Free Quality Education initiative is sustained throughout his tenure of office and even beyond.
