Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, Salima Monorma Bah delivered a keynote address during Global Entrepreneurship Week, organised by Innovation Sierra Leone, with the theme: “The Intersection of Public Policy and Entrepreneurship.”
She outlined the government’s efforts to position Sierra Leone as a hub for startups and innovation.
Madam Salima Bah highlighted policies aimed at attracting entrepreneurs, including tax incentives, grants, and simplified registration processes. She also emphasized the importance of infrastructure like Fɛlei TechCity to support startups with co-working spaces and access to technology.
Reaffirming the government’s vision, the Minister announced the upcoming Digital Startup and Innovation Legislation, set to launch in 2025, which will provide tailored support for startups. She also addressed the gig economy, noting plans to introduce regulations that empower gig workers in the global market.
The Minister thanked the organizers for convening the event, describing it as a vital platform for promoting collaboration and progress in Sierra Leone’s startup ecosystem.
