Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has announced Denmark’snew engagement with Sierra Leone. He said Denmark will provide support for education and green transition for a more sustainable future for all.

Dr. Sengeh successfully secured valuable resources and strengthened bilateral relations with the Kingdom of Denmark.

His discussions with Danish leaders emphasised a new partnership model that promises mutual benefits and advancements in areas of interest such as education, green energy and global security.

The centerpiece of the visit was the signing of a Letter of Intent between the two countries, which Dr. Sengeh and the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy, Mr. Dan Jørgensern, formalised.

The agreement outlines a $5 million support package for Sierra Leone, $2 million allocated for education and $3 million designated for green energy initiatives, to be facilitated through the European Union partnership.

Dr. Sengeh also held productive meetings with Danish Prime Minister Madam Mette Frederiksen and Foreign Minister Mr. Lars Løkke Rasmussen, discussing practical cooperation in critical areas. These talks highlighted Denmark’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone and Africa, especially in global forums like the United Nations Security Council.

Denmark’s engagement reflects its upcoming presidency of the European Union and its candidacy for a UNSC seat, acknowledging Sierra Leone’s strategic significance.

These engagements with Danish leaders not only prioritises Sierra Leone’s needs but also highlights a model for African-European relations on the global stage.
