The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) has strengthened its partnership with FourahBay College (FBC) following a high-level meeting aimed at reviewing progress on their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and identifying new areas of collaboration.
The engagement brought together senior officials from the Ministry and a delegation from FBC led by Andrew Baio.
Discussions centered on evaluating the implementation of the MOU over the past year, with both sides exploring practical strategies to enhance cooperation and ensure the partnership delivers meaningful outcomes.
Welcoming the delegation, the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, reaffirmed his commitment to the initiative, describing it as a vital platform for institutional growth and national development.
He emphasised the historical and academic significance of Fourah Bay College, noting that many national leaders are products of the institution.
“FBC remains the country’s premier institution, and many of us are products of it. There is no doubt that reforms are needed. Like any other institution, improvement is essential. This engagement presents an opportunity for transformation,” the Minister stated.
Speaking on behalf of the college, Professor Baioexpressed appreciation for the continued collaboration and conveyed optimism about the benefits the partnership will bring to students, alumni, and the broader academic community.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint committee that will oversee the implementation of the MOU. Both institutions also outlined plans to roll out joint programmes, strengthen capacity-building initiatives, and mobilize resources to ensure tangible and sustainable results.
Observers say the renewed partnership reflects a shared commitment to enhancing education, promoting civic awareness, and building stronger institutional linkages in Sierra Leone.
