The people vowed to overwhelmingly vote for all the four APC Parliamentary and nineteen local council candidates because of the development projects this government has undertaken in their chiefdom. They made the assurance at the Yataya court barray when the Koinadugu District APC Chairman Momoh Konte, visited them to present the party’s candidates.

Speaking at the ceremony, Section Chief, Pa Sarrah Sesay, Town Chief Amadu Baio Conteh, Women’s Leader Mariama Koroma and Youth Leader Moses Koroma among others disclosed that the APC government through the Council has built a Primary and Secondary school and implemented other development projects in the township which no other government has done. They assured the APC that they will not follow Peter Bayuku Conteh to the NGC. They emphasized that they will vote massively for his younger brother James Conteh of Ward 149 whom the APC has awarded symbol.

“Peter Bayuku Conteh has defected to the NGC party but we the people of Yataya Village where (Bayuku hails) will remain and die in the APC. We will vote massively for the APC candidates including his younger brother James Conteh of Ward 149,” the Women’s Leader said.  The people lauded Momoh Konte for his personal contribution to the development of the district.

“The women of Yataya want to thank Mr. Konte for buying the Rice Mill for us. We have been suffering for the past years to get the rice mill. You are the only person that has come to our aid. Bayuku has failed to do it for us despite several appeals over the years. We also want to thank you for supporting our community teachers who are not on pay roll and paying the college fees of our children at UNIMAK,” the Mammy Queen Ya Adama Conteh said amidst thunderous applauds. She said they will follow Momoh Konte anywhere he leads them.

Responding Momoh Konte thanked them for the warm reception. He disclosed that of the nineteen councilors in the Council, ten are Limbas, eight Kurankos and one Mandingo. He pointed out that the APC party loves the Limba people contrary to the negative messages being said by the NGC candidate. He said “Even the candidate for the Council Chairman is a Limba from Bafodia town.” He called on the people to remain peaceful and vote APC for more development.

“Give the APC party another five years for more development in the district since they are the only party that cares for its people. Koinadugu has seen more development under the APC than any other party,” Mr. Konte said. He disclosed that construction work on the road from Kayakoh to Konkoba will soon start.

Mr. Konte used the occasion to present the APC candidates to the people and urged them to vote all four in the March polls. Similar presentations were made in Kondeabaya, Alikalia, Yifin, Kumala, Gbentu in the Diang, Folosaba Kamba, Nieni and Wara Yagala Chiefdoms.
