The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), has conveyed over fifteen  companies in a pre- bidding meeting at the proposed  site for the construction of a district office in Moyamba.

The move was not only to comply with procurement regulations but also to create a level playing ground for the would-be contractors to participate in the bidding process.

Speaking at the occasion, Peter JusuKenah, General Manager in charge of Administration and Human Resources at NASSIT, stated that in a bid to expanding coverage and bringing the Scheme closer to its members, the Director General, Mohamed FuaadDaboh, was desirous of establishing an office in the Moyamba district.

This, according to Mr. Kenah would ameliorate the challenges faced by our esteemed customers in the district.

He noted that the visit was to show the bidders the proposed construction site that would guide them in the preparation of their Bills of Quantity for the project.

Peter Kenah described Moyamba as a growing district with one of the biggest mining companies in the country, a university and a good number of Government and private-sector employees that needed to be catered for.

He expressed the gratitude of the Director General and Management of NASSIT to the District Officer, Haroun K. Turay for his tremendous support, and willingness to ensure that the project was on course, and also to the Government and the Chiefdom Administration for providing such a prime location for the construction of the NASSIT office.

In his statement, the Project Manager, Abel Onomake, intimated the gathering that the visit was to present the proposed construction site to the bidders to enable them determine the topography of the land, its configuration, physical site and proximity of materials that will be needed during the construction process. He said the site was a vast land that would be used to house both the office and the Manager’s quarters.

He encouraged the bidders to pay attention to every detail of the land and ask all the necessary questions they would require answers to.

On his part, the Head of  Procurement at NASSIT, Jonathan Juana Kamanda, told the bidders that the pre-bidding meeting was one of the events in the procurement process, adding that the process was still opened  to other bidders that might be interested. He assured them that all questions and concerns would be duly addressed.

During the courtesy call in his office, the Moyamba District Officer, Haroun K. Turay, commended NASSIT for the initiative and the speed with which the process was going.

“I am highly impressed with your speed and adherence to the right procedures and protocols in the pursuit of the project”, he said, assuring NASSIT of his continued support to the project.

The meeting ended with a question and answer session and a conducted tour with the bidders.
