The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), with support from UNICEF, has rolled out a Free Mass Birth Certificate Registration Campaign for children aged zero to twelve months.
Regional Registration Officer, Rev. Dominic Ibrahim SorieKargbo, said securing a birth certificate is vital for a child’s identity, legal recognition, and access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and social protection.
He described the initiative as a major step toward strengthening children’s rights and improving civil registration across Sierra Leone. Rev. Kargbo encouraged all parents and guardians to make use of the free service to secure their children’s future.
NCRA is working with communities and health partners to increase awareness and ensure every eligible child is registered.
