Sierra Leone’s government and the European Union have launched the European Chamber of Commerce, EuroCham Sierra Leone, aimed at strengthening business cooperation and improving the investment climate in the country.

The launch took place during the third Joint Public–Private Dialogue held in Freetown, bringing together senior government officials, European investors, business leaders, and representatives of EU member states and the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Discussions focused on ongoing reforms to improve the business environment and address challenges affecting investment and trade.

Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh highlighted growing investment in key sectors including agriculture, logistics, manufacturing, mining, and renewable energy, assuring investors that Sierra Leone remains open for business.

“Sierra Leone is safe. Sierra Leone is secure and Sierra Leone is open for investment,” he stated.

EuroCham Sierra Leone was officially inaugurated as a unified platform to represent European companies operating in the country and to facilitate structured policy dialogue with government institutions.

The chamber is led by President Hans Wurche, who also serves as Managing Director of MSC. He described the launch as a strong symbol of long-term cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Minister of Trade and Industry Alpha Ibrahim Sesaysaid the chamber would provide European businesses with a “single, credible, organised voice,” while offering government a structured counterpart for engagement.

EU Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, said the establishment of EuroCham marks a significant step forward in trade and investment relations, noting ongoing European investments in digital infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and logistics sectors.
