The National Grand Coalition (NGC) party through its leadership in Parliament, Hon. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella of Constituency 062 and Paramount Chief Bai Shebora Yek II of Samu chiefdom visited the affected victims of a massive fire incident in Yeliboya village on 15th of February 2021.

The visit to the affected victim was coupled with the provision of donated items to the victims.

Whiles presenting the items which include one hundred bags of cement, two hundred bags of rice, clothes and food items to the affected fire victims in Yeliboya, Dr. Yumkella said that, this is a start to ameliorate the current situation of the victims, and as a representative of the people, he will ensure their safety and welfare is guaranteed always.

He however cautioned them to be more proactive against fire incidences and be protective of themselves and their properties. Hon. KKY expressed his sincere sympathy to all those affected by this unfortunate accident and assured them of his support and counselling at this trial times.

Authorities present at this occasion reached a consensus to build a temporary shelter for the victims in a safe location in neighboring Mahayla village.

It could be recalled that, On Thursday 15th February 2021, at Yeliboya village, Samu chiefdom Kambia district, a massive fire incident occurred destroying properties worth millions of Leones. According to an eyewitness who recorded the incident via his phone, says the fire started at around 5:00 am and that more than 150 houses, local boat machines and shops were burnt to the ground.

The cause of the fire or hoe it started is still pending investigations by the relevant authorities.

Yeliboya is a small island community in Samu Chiefdom, Constituency 062 in Kambia district. Residents of Yeliboya heavily depend on fishing activities as their main source of livelihood.
