The NGC also called on the government to drop the charges against Kamarainba, believing that in order to inspire confidence in the public about the ongoing electoral process candidates and leaders of political parties must be free to move around the country and conduct their campaigns.

The government therefore needs to avoid any action that can be interpreted as using the law to achieve purely political objectives.
