The Leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC), Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (KKY) has called on Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to uphold grace, peace and forgiveness.

“The dynamic Mayor of the Freetown City Council has shown remorse and contriteness for the unfortunate statement attributed to her”.

He made this call during his Easter message to the nation over the weekend where he said: “To all Sierra Leoneans, I take this opportunity during these holy days to call for grace, peace and forgiveness. To this end, the dynamic Mayor of the Freetown City Council has shown remorse and contriteness for the unfortunate statement attributed to her. In a country where leaders behave as demigods and never apologise, Her Worship Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has done the honorable thing to face the nation and apologise. We must move on and address bigger national priorities. We face challenges including deepening ethnocentrism and corruption. I call on all leaders to lower the temperature, and change the tempo of vitriolic rhetoric. Let us help to spread the Easter message of Peace and Forgiveness and commit ourselves to progressive   nationalism, ethnic harmony, unity and putting Salone first.
