He noted that it is not of their making to squat at state land and the issue of squatters is a perennial one that Govt. needs to address. He added that some of them have been dupe and fraud by unscrupulous persons including land lords and to vent a house is very expensive nowadays., adding that the ministry of lands is not doing justice to the poor that they are selective in giving letter of offer of state land to poor and defenceless people, which are the factor for squatting. He stated that it was unanimously agreed in the presence of the surveyor the ministry in NRA officials, the contractors of the project and the Architect of IDEAS Mr. Jenner Ford that NRA must compensate the affected people by November – 30th 2015 as part of their corporate social responsibility which has never happen.

He disclosed that Mr. Joseph Koroma the human resource and Admin. Manager of NRA assured the community of their corporation that paper works are ongoing and it got to be an administrative one. We are surprised to see him with police officers and a military police of the RSLAF that they are from the court to execute eviction asking people to leave by Wednesday 20th April 2016 without producing court order. Mr. Abu Dozen Bangura an ex-service man said he has served this nation diligently and he is a tax payer with six children. He expressed disappointment at Mr. Koroma for them to take names of affected people to be compensated but fails to convey the message to Management of NRA. He intimated that Mr. Koroma has prolonged the notice by not being consistent with his words and we will hold him responsible if anything happen to us by illegal means. We are reading to leave peacefully when compensated but not by posing threat with police illegally. Quoted Mr. Bangura Madam Zainab Kamara a business woman and house wife noted with dismay that Mr. Joseph Koroma is inhuman adding that they have live in that community for over three decades and believes that Mr. Koroma has familiarize with that community and knows that there are people with families, school going children, but he took upon himself to abuse his office by using Mac-p against a peaceful community. Madam Kamara informed this medium that the presence of the police and military in her community on Monday 18thApril 2016 signifies forcefully eviction without any prior notice it is a real violation of human rights and injustice to the highest degree.

She went on the say that the NRA she knows is a credible institution that cares for poor people noting that they are citizens regardless being squatters they deserves respect.

She personally called on the commissioner general Madam Haja Kalla Kamara as she is personate about human being to look in to this issue.

 

When contacted Mr. Koroma on the phone for his response he said he has nothing to say let go on and publish.
