The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has announced it will host the National Labour Conference and Social Dialogue 2026 from April 30 to May 1 at the Miatta Conference Hall.
Held under the theme “Challenges and Opportunities of Decent Work in the Digital Era,” the two-day conference is expected to bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including policymakers, development partners, employers, workers’ unions, informal economy representatives, digital innovators, and women entrepreneurs.
Organizers say the event will feature high-level social dialogue sessions, expert panel discussions, a job fair exhibition, and interactive stakeholder engagements aimed at addressing the evolving nature of work in a rapidly digitalizing economy.
The conference forms part of activities marking International Workers’ Day 2026, with a focus on strengthening collaboration among government, employers, and workers. It will also seek to advance inclusive labour policies, promote women’s economic empowerment, and expand access to decent and sustainable employment opportunities.
Officials note that the dialogue comes at a critical time as Sierra Leone navigates the intersection of technology, employment, and economic growth, with increasing emphasis on preparing the workforce for the demands and opportunities of the digital era.
