Sierra Leone’s Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Works and Public Asset has summoned the country’s Minister of Works and Public Asset, Dr. Denise Sandy and the China Railway 7th Group (CRSG) in relation to the increase in toll gate charged.

The CRSG made their presentation on the review of the Toll Gates charges.

The Works Parliamentary Oversight Committee, after carefully listened to the presentation by the CRSG, justifying their case, and the need for an increase on the Toll Gate charges.

The Committee made series of cross-examination on the documents, also asked relevant, and the necessary question in relation to their submission made, and on the binding contract (document) between government and CRSG.

After a thorough engagement between CRSG and the committee on the review of the Toll Gates, the Works Parliamentary Oversight Committee, did not put any hold on the Review of the Toll Gate, but seeked the next step for Parliament to debate the documents and the review in the Well.

The Documents and the Review quest, will soon be laid before Parliament, for Parliamentarians to debate in the Well. As it stands, the process is still ongoing and there is nothing like putting a hold on the Review by the Works Parliamentary Oversight Committee, as was rumoured.
