AYV gathered that the Correctional Service personnel refused to release inmates who were in the court cell on the grounds that they received certain directives from their bosses, not to release any inmate to the police until certain arrangements were put in place.

On the other hand, the police are also saying that they are not responsible to escort inmates to the court rooms and that they too have also received directives from their superiors to do likewise.

This unfortunate situation left many litigants and relatives to accused persons who had come to court to pursue their matters wandering and stressful and in a state of quandary.

It is however hoped that these two indispensable state institutions meet and dialogue over the issues hinging on their operational activities so as to find a workable solution on the current misunderstanding and the lack of cooperation between the police and the Correctional Service personnel attached to the Pademba Road Court.
