Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio has cautioned that political differences must not interfere with the delivery of public services, calling on citizens and leaders alike to prioritise national interest above partisan considerations.
Delivering his Independence Day address, the President stressed that governance and service delivery should remain uninterrupted regardless of political disagreements.
“Political disagreements must never suspend public service,” he stated.
President Bio urged Sierra Leoneans to place the country first in all circumstances, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective responsibility in national development.
“Let us hold each other up as a nation. A nation that cannot feed itself cannot call itself free,” he added.
His remarks come amid ongoing national reflections marking 65 years of independence, with renewed focus on economic resilience, food security, and social cohesion.
