Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has called on Sierra Leoneans to embrace peaceful political engagement, stressing that politics should never become a matter of life and death.
Speaking after sharing a dinner with All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant Osman Timbo over the weekend, the Chief Minister underscored the importance of mutual respect and constructive dialogue across political divides.
“Politics should never be life or death. It must never be about disrespect. It’s never been for me, political banter, yes, sometimes,” Dr. Sengeh said.
He noted that while political parties may hold differing views on national issues, such differences should be addressed through principled discussions rather than hostility.
“When I engage with members of the APC, we discuss where we diverge on principle. On any given week, I engage multiple folks from the opposition off camera,”he stated.
Dr. Sengeh reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, emphasising that national development requires the collective efforts of all Sierra Leoneans, regardless of political affiliation.
“When I say together, We Will Deliver, I mean it. All of us must work together to deliver for our people,” he added.
His remarks have been widely viewed as a call for political tolerance, dialogue, and cooperation as Sierra Leone continues to pursue national development and democratic consolidation.
