President Julius Maada Bio has announced a 25 percent salary increase for all ranks within the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), effective April 2026.
The announcement was made as part of ongoing Armed Forces Day activities, drawing applause from military personnel and dignitaries present. The increment applies across all ranks of the RSLAF and is expected to significantly boost morale within the country’s armed forces.
President Bio directed the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to work closely with the Minister of Finance to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the salary adjustment. He emphasized that the process must be handled efficiently to reflect government’s commitment to the welfare of the armed forces.
In his address, the President expressed deep appreciation to the gallant men and women of the RSLAF for what he described as their tireless service and unwavering dedication to the nation and its people.
He noted that the armed forces remain a cornerstone of national stability and security, highlighting their contributions both domestically and in international peacekeeping missions. The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare, working conditions, and professional development of military personnel.
