Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, has publicly addressed the All People’s Congress (APC) Party’s rejection of the appointment of Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chairman of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
The President made the remarks during the swearing-in ceremony held at State House, describing the moment as significant for Sierra Leone’s democratic governance.
In his response, President Bio defended the appointment process, emphasising that it was conducted in line with constitutional provisions. He underscored the importance of respecting state institutions and allowing the Commission to function independently in executing its mandate.
