President Julius Maada Bio has used the commissioning of a new district office for the Sierra Leone People’s Party in MattruJong to rally party members around unity and development ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Addressing supporters at the ceremony, the President described the newly constructed office as more than just an administrative facility, but a strategic centre for grassroots mobilisation, engagement, and coordination within the district. He urged party members to move beyond internal divisions and work collectively toward a common political goal.
The President also highlighted key development priorities for Bonthe District, including plans to construct a 100-bed hospital and ongoing efforts to expand access to electricity and clean water. He further referenced recent nationwide investments in the health sector, such as the provision of vehicles and logistical support to improve service delivery.
In her remarks, Fatima Maada Bio commended the establishment of the office and echoed calls for peace and unity within the party, particularly in the aftermath of internal elections. She also pointed to progress on the Bo–Mattru Jong road project as a sign of the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, SLPP National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songadescribed the expansion of party offices nationwide as a reflection of strengthening party structures and leadership. Other party stakeholders, including regional and district officials, also called for cohesion and praised collective efforts that led to the completion of the facility.
The event underscored renewed focus on consolidating grassroots support and strengthening party organisation as the ruling party positions itself for the next electoral cycle.
