Sierra Leone’s former Chief Minister, Professor David J. Francis, was recently awarded the prestigious Pan-African Leadership Award as the Outstanding African Diplomat of the Year 2023.
At the Pan-African Global Peace & Leadership Summit and Award Ceremony on Saturday, 25th November 2023, at the Westminster Hilton Hotel in London, United Kingdom, Professor David Francis was recognised and awarded the distinguished African Diplomat of the Year 2023.
The host & the UNIPGC Global President, H.E. Ambassador Jonathan Ojadah, stated that: Professor Francis has emerged as one of the most respected and highly influential African Diplomats that has taken his country, Sierra Leone, to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) after 53-year absence; facilitated the selection on President Bio as the Chairperson of the African Union African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM); vigorously promoted, advocated and defended the common African position of the African Union Committee of Ten (C-10) for the Reform of the UNSC and used astute multilateral diplomacy to advocate for the inclusion & representation of Africa in global governance institutions. Africa is Proud of Professor Francis for making Africa Proud!’
The African Diplomat Award was received on behalf of Professor Francis by the Sierra Leone High Commissioner in London for UK & Northern Ireland, H.E. Dr. Morie Manyeh.
