She said the elections are over and the Head Woman has the responsibility of unifying the village after the elction and make sure she works with everyone whether they voted for her or not.
“As for me, I have accepted the outcome of the result and as both of us are women, I think we will have a cordial relationship and we will work assidiously to make Regent Village a better place as well as contributing to the development of WARDC,” Madam Kargbo admonished.
The Deputy Chair thanked all those who supported Madam Metzger and called on them to put aside sexism and work with her as their elected Head because they trust in her ability to deliver their expectations.
Mrs Margeret Kargbo advised her to make sure she choose people in different committees that she trust and that they will be able to work with her for the good of the village and also stressed that leadership is challenging especially when she is a woman.
In her remarks, Mrs Metzger the Village Head elect thanked God for his guidance and for putting her in such a high profiled position as Head Woman of Regent Village.
She said she has been advocating for development for the village and prayed that her people join her in her pursuit of development opportunities for the good of all.
“I want to assure you Madam Deputy Chair that Regent Village is in good hands as I will do all I can to lift the village once more. I am very happy that you have accepted me as your younger sister and your pronouncement that you will give me the support, Madam Metzger assured.
The new Village Head averred that even though she is the very first woman to be voted in that coveted position, she assured she will not relent the expectations of her supporters down and promised to do all within her powers to make the village a better place.
“Most of you know me, I have been with you, working with you and doing all I can even when I was just an ordinary member of the village, now that you have given me your support by electing me as your new Village Head, I am assuring you that you have made the right choice,” Madam Metzger noted.
The Village Head said she has already put in place committees that will run the village and they have already being blessed by the Church and Mosque in the village.
Other speakers include former Head men, Mr Victor Thomas and Arthur Kwesi John. The Chief Administrator and his deputy and other councillors were present at the ceremony.
It could be recalled that Mrs Metzger had contested before but lost. Even after losing in 2013, she has never stop advocating for the village as she is a woman activist, she has helped many girls and women in the village in her own little way and she has promised to continue working in the right direction.
The ceremony was climaxed by the swearing of the new Village Head and the handing over of the symbol of authority, a Bell amodst loud jubilation from Regentonians and wellwishers who accompanied their new Village Head.
