The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have confirmed that six suspects have been arrested in the ongoing investigations into the recent armed robbery incidents in Bo and Kenema, which resulted in the death of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu in Kenema and left John Lamina, Regional Manager of NASSIT, seriously injured in Bo.
Among the suspects in police custody are Gbassay Swarray, alias Success, previously linked to a murder case in Moyamba, Joseph Kamagy Kamara, alias Shine, Martin Sallu, an ex-convict, Joseph Bangalie, alias Boika, also an ex-convict for felonious offences, Foday Sallu, and Foday Hassan Sesay, a receiver found in possession of one of Mr. Lamina’s stolen items.
According to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), ACP Allieu Jalloh, the suspects were apprehended with firearms and other housebreaking implements.
In a related development, the Head of the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), CSP Mohamed K. Allieu confirmed that a Guinean-Belgian national was arrested at Lungi International Airport for being in possession of an unlawful substance.
Police further disclosed that investigations into both matters are ongoing, and a manhunt has been launched for other fugitives still at large in connection with the robberies.
