The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Guinea has announced plans for a major sub-regional concert aimed at promoting peace and integration across the Mano River region.
The initiative, championed by Minister Moussa MoïseSylla, was formally presented on April 21 in Conakry, when Guinean artist Singleton met with the minister to outline the concept.
The concert, scheduled for May 1, 2026, at PamelapStadium, will bring together performers and audiences from Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia—all member states of the Mano River Union.
Among the artists expected to feature are Sierra Leonean musician Heavy Rain and a Liberian counterpart, in what organizers describe as a symbolic demonstration of unity and shared cultural identity.
Organizers say the event will blend contemporary urban music with traditional sounds, creating a platform for cultural exchange, dialogue, and regional solidarity.
Speaking during the engagement, Minister Syllawelcomed the initiative, underscoring its importance in fostering peace, strengthening social cohesion, and deepening regional integration. He also urged organizers to ensure the concert is inclusive, impactful, and sustainable.
The event is being positioned as more than an entertainment showcase, with stakeholders highlighting its broader objective of promoting unity and reinforcing the shared heritage of the Mano River region.
If successfully delivered, the concert is expected to serve as a model for cultural diplomacy, using music as a tool to advance peace and cooperation among neighboring countries.
