The Communication and Media Lead of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Sheku Putka Kamara shook the crowd at the Ministry of Finance during the institution’s Budget Presentation.

In his capacity as National Senior Communications Officer of SALWACO, Mr. Kamara underscored the relevance of paying water bills on time if not in time. He was responding to a question about how SALWACO hoped to achieve its vision of being a leading water provision company.

In his response, the respected Journalist and Lecturer said that it was a disservice to Sierra Leone for people to owe SALWACO and refuse to pay and or be reluctant. He said that the government of Sierra Leone funds over 95 percent of SALWACO implementations and urged that it would be apt if people were ready and willing to pay for services already used.

“The attainment of our vision is very possible if people are willing to do what is right,” he remarked. “Why someone should be forced and or coerced to pay for services already used,” he asked.

The room was filled with admiration after Sheku Putka Kamara’s sound submission, much to the appreciation of all and sundry. The thunderous applause that followed proved and or justified that the SALWACO Communication Lead was able to make a convincing and thrillingly welcoming argument.

Earlier, the SALWACO leadership had urged all debtors to pay as soon as possible or face disconnection and or further charges, among other things.

The SALWACO Budget Presentation was done by the company’s Director of Finance, Frank Lahai Kamara who was accompanied by the Director of Operations, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie, Director of Research, Planning and Policy, Saffa SK Bockarie, Human Resources Director, Joe Ansu Foray and other reps from the Finance and Account Directorate of SALWACO.
