A delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be travelling to Sierra Leone in the second week of October, 2021, to conduct technical assessment and meet with the Sierra Leone Government in order to put modalities in place for the opening of the Saudi Embassy in Freetown.

“The delegation will also finalise the technical studies regarding the opening of the Embassy.”

This announcement was made by the Deputy Director of African Affairs, Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Al Balawi, during a courtesy visit by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Al Balawi, who will be serving as Head of the delegation, said the opening of the Saudi Embassy in Freetown would further strengthen the long bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Sierra Leone. He said the Saudi Embassy in Freetown would be in the same category of the Saudi Embassy in Accra, Ghana, and would comprise diplomats, security personnel as well as local staff, such as translators/interpreters, secretaries and drivers.

On his part, His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh thanked Mr. Al Balawi for the hospitality. He said the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have enjoyed long bilateral relations spanning 42 years, adding that the opening of the Saudi Embassy in Freetown is welcome news for both countries.
