Minister of Land, Dr TuradSenessi was officially invested as member of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association and Life Patron by the President of the Sierra Scout Council, Sheik Fomba Abubakar Swaray at the conference room, Ministry of Lands.

In his remarks the President of the Scouts Association said, “The leadership and entire members of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association are very proud to have Dr TuradSenesie as a member of the World organization of the Scout Movement. His zest towards community and human capital including and not limited to his healthy human relation and open-door policy makes him a replica of a pure and applied Scout”

In his induction as legitimate member of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association, Sheik Fomba, asked Princes Griggs Davies (Executive Committee of SLSA) to pray on the scarf.

The President rolled the Scout Scarf on the neck of Dr TuradSenessi and while affixing the golden scout brotherhood badge on the academic doctor he said “With this brotherhood badge and muffler you are now a legitimate member of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association and World organization of the Scout Movement forever”.

The minister was requested to kindly stand alert with a proper scout sign and repeated the Scout Promise, which he said “On my Honor, I promise, to do my best, to do my Duty to God and my country. To help other people at all times, and to obey the Scout Law.”

Responding with a passionate smile Scouter Dr TuradSenessie said “My dream has finally come to past. During my primary and secondary days, I had wanted to become a scout but I had a very strict father who does not encourage his children spending time out of his house on extracurricular activities apart from normal classroom activities., therefore, I missed those early school extracurricular activities but I want to thank God for the opportunity to be invested today as member of the Scouts Association is a fulfilling dream, though at adulthood…. but a Scout is Scout”

He smiled with humility. “I have read literatures about the scout movement and I realized that services carried out by Scouts is voluntary and humanitarian youth organization, therefore, I promised to do my best to ensure the promotion of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association and protection of its legitimate properties professionally within my purview”

The Minister advised the leadership of the Association to submit formal letter of request and attached all supporting documents for their properties at Grafton Scout Camp and at New England Ville, Freetown.

In his statement, the International Communication and Programs Commission, Scouter Patrick Jibao Massaquoi said, Investing an adult as a scout is accepted and legitimate in scouting as such persons fall with in the category of Adult in Scouting and are selectively recruited as professionals as result of their strategic services that maybe needed including and not limited to human capacity development of young scouts, protection of scout personnel and properties and supporting project implementation etc. Commissioner Massaquoi further added that as an institution established by an ACT of Parliament (ACT 47 of 1963), the sitting president is the Patron of the Sierra Leone Scouts Association and it was in respect of the above the leadership of the Sierra Leone Scouts presented the Patron Medal and Patron Certificate to His Excellency the President, Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio on 6th May 2021 at the State Lodge, Freetown.
