To mark its 60th Anniversary, the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited has held a round-table media engagement at its Industrial-Estate conference room in Wellington to brief the media and by extension Sierra Leoneans on the company’s 60th years anniversary celebration.

In a bid to share the success stories as the company clocks 60 years of existence, the company’s Corporate Relations Manager, Foday Daboh disclosed to newsmen the origin as well as the gains of the company since its establishment in Sierra Leone.

According to Mr. Daboh, the Company 60 years ago, specifically on the 25th November 1962, started its first Larger Beer production in the country. Since that day to date, the company has witnessed the highs and lows of the country like the 11 years of civil war in which the company was burnt down by the rebels, the Ebola epidemic that claimed the lives of thousands of Sierra Leoneans, the mudslide and then COVID-19.

In all of these, the company remains consistent in bringing people together in the spirit of true togetherness.

Mr. Daboh went further to disclose that irrespective of the highs and lows in the country, there is one thing that has made the company stand the test of time, and that thing is the People.

The people who wake up every morning to build strong brands, the people who ensure that the lines are working, the people who toil day and night to ensure that the company’s products are always available, the people who make sure that consumers interact with the company’s brands, the people who protect our business license and right to operate and those who work tirelessly for the company to make the right financial decisions, the people who drive us every day, or those who ensure we eat or work in a clean environment, and those that keep them safe.

Mr. Daboh maintained that the people are the reasons the company is celebrating its 60th Anniversary.

Mr. Daboh elucidated further that for the company to sustain its leading position during these 60 years, it has witnessed 15 Managing Directors who have left indelible footprints not only in the history of S/Leone Brewery Limited but also in the annals of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Daboh concluded that in celebrating the 60th Anniversary, the company has decided to extend this celebration to its immediate neighbours as they have also contributed immensely to the growth and existence of the company.

Therefore, the company will be organizing a True Togetherness Inter-Community Football Gala Competition amongst 4 participatory communities that consist of Peacock Farm, Taylor Street, Estate, and Fisherman Corner Communities with a star prize of NLe10,000 and NLe5,000 for the Runner-up.

In a similar way, the teams that will not make it to the grand finale will be given a consolation prize of NLe2,000 each as many more consolation prizes will be won by deserving players and teams.

To further enhance preparations ahead of the 60th Anniversary tournament, the participating teams were given branded jerseys and some financial support.

In ensuring that the 60th Anniversary celebration is remarkable, the Marketing Manager of Sierra Leone Brewery Limited-Madam Aminata Kassim-Carew outlined the lines of activities the company will be undertaking to mark the True Togetherness Celebration.

She maintained that the 60th-year celebration will be cascaded to the consumers and the  Communities as well as they form an integral part in the company’s growth and accomplishments.

She noted that the company has hosted the Beer Festival in the West and will be replicating the same in the East-End Part of the City; Bo, Makeni, and Kenema as well. In these events, the company will be dishing out items like iPhones, Plasma TV, fridges, Gallons of oil, drinks ecetera to lucky winners in their raffle draws.
