The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency S.E.M. Mohamadi Kaboré, has paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Salamu Koroma, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Iran, in a move that further reinforces the spirit of African solidarity and cooperation.
Ambassador Kaboré’s visit follows the recent official trip of Sierra Leone’s President, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio — who also serves as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) — to Burkina Faso in mid-September.

The Burkinabé envoy conveyed his country’s gratitude on behalf of the people of Burkina Faso and the embassy in Tehran, noting that President Bio’s visit had “demonstrated the high level of friendship and partnership between the two nations.”
Describing his mission as a policy visit, Ambassador Kaboré stressed the importance of reinforcing collaboration not only between Burkina Faso and Sierra Leone but also across the broader African community in Iran. He praised the vibrant role of the African Group in Tehran, particularly its successful African Day celebrations, which he said had strengthened bonds among African states.
“I appreciate the dynamic collaboration among African countries in Iran and hope to see even more joint initiatives,” Ambassador Kaboré remarked, extending gratitude to Ambassador Koroma for his warm reception at the Sierra Leone Embassy.
Welcoming his Burkinabé counterpart, Ambassador Salamu Koroma highlighted the long-standing ties between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. He recalled his own earlier visit to the Burkinabé Embassy upon assuming office, which he described as a demonstration of African brotherhood and solidarity.
“Our embassy is open to all Africans, as we are each other’s keepers,” Ambassador Koroma affirmed.
Reflecting on Sierra Leone’s historical bonds with Burkina Faso, Ambassador Koroma noted that he had personally accompanied President Bio during his first official visit to Ouagadougou while serving as Chief of Protocol at State House. He emphasized that such exchanges symbolize the unity and shared values of the West African region.
“The recent visit of President Bio to President Ibrahim Traoré was very purposeful — not only in the interest of Sierra Leone but also for the collective good of West Africa. Our common union and shared values bind us together as Africans, and we must always show the world that we are united as a region,” Ambassador Koroma said.
The courtesy visit concluded with both envoys reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and promoting stronger African representation in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
