Sierra Leone’s coastline is set to come alive thisweekend as the National Coastal Unity Boat Race 2026 returns, promising a blend of sporting excitement and cultural celebration.

The GEED Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Marine Times Agency, will host the event at Chapter One Beach Front from April 4–5, 2026. The two-day festival aims to showcase maritime talent while fostering unity among coastal communities.

The competition kicks off on April 4 with preliminary rounds, featuring 16 contestants from coastal towns and villages across the country. The action will peak on April 5 during the grand finale, where the top winners will claim attractive cash prizes.

Beyond the thrills of the race, organizers highlight the event’s symbolic significance. “The Coastal Unity Boat Race is more than just a sporting contest. It embodies collaboration, resilience, and shared identity among Sierra Leoneans,” said a GEED Foundation spokesperson.

Officials note that the event aligns with the government’s broader agenda to promote national cohesion and place Sierra Leone’s cultural and tourism potential on a regional and international stage. Attendees can expect a lively celebration, combining high-stakes competition with a festive showcase of Sierra Leone’s coastal heritage.
