The European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, has disclosed that Sierra Leone is the third-largest supplier of organic cocoa to the European Union market, underscoring the country’s growing importance in EU trade relations.
Speaking exclusively to AYV, Ambassador Jankowski noted that Sierra Leone plays a significant role in supplying organic cocoa to Europe, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between the two partners.
He pointed out, however, that Sierra Leone remains a small economy with limited purchasing power, stressing the need for increased European Union investment and partnerships to support the country’s economic growth and development.
“We need to see more European Union partnerships investing in the country,” he stated.
The ambassador further revealed that discussions have also focused on strengthening Sierra Leone’s capacity to better protect and control its ports, as part of broader efforts to enhance trade security and economic cooperation between Sierra Leone and the European Union.
