Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba has participated in the DEIK Business Diplomacy Conference and award ceremony, and has engaged the new Turkish-Sierra Leone Business Chairman.

DEIK is the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye and the main engine and symbol of the Turkish business community’s power in the international arena.

Through Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Türkiye is providing development assistance to Sierra Leone in various domains.

The Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye has recently appointed Mr. Fatih ALTUNBAŞ as the new Chairman of Türkiye – Sierra Leone Business Council.

During their engagement, Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba told DEIK on the need to expand and deepen trade relations between the two countries, particularly in Agriculture, Education, infrastructure, energy, tourism, and in the mining sector.

Under the leadership of Ambassador Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, bilateral trade volume between Sierra Leone and Turkiye recorded approximately 200.78 million USD at the end of 2023. Primary goods exported from Türkiye are flour, sugar, iron and steel products, cement, various food products, cable, plastic wrap. Turkish imports mainly consist of hulk, titanium and leather products.

Turkish Airlines flies from İstanbul to Freetown 3 times a week.
