The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs convened the Budapest-Bamako-Freetown Challenge Inter–Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) and Private Sector Committee Meeting to finalise preparations for the arrival of the second batch of rally participants. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Sahr Philip Morsay, who expressed appreciation to MDAs and private sector partners for their strong collaboration during the successful hosting of the first batch.
The second batch of the Budapest–Bamako-Freetown Rally is scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone on 5 March 2026, comprising approximately 492 participants and 203 vehicles. Participants will overnight at Bureh Beach before proceeding to Freetown for the official finish line ceremony at Lumley Beach. The importance of sustained coordination among all partners to ensure smooth logistics, safety, and a memorable experience for visitors was discussed in the meeting.
The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, agencies and partners, continue to position Freetown as the official finish destination of the rally, the world’s largest amateur vehicular adventure event. Stakeholders at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to intensified collaboration in the lead-up to the second batch’s arrival, aimed at delivering a well-coordinated and successful finish line event that will further showcase Sierra Leone’s tourism and hospitality potential.
