The Minister of Internal Affairs, Morie Lengor, has held high-level discussions with the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Saudi Al-Musaed, aimed at strengthening bilateral security cooperation and promoting regional stability.
The meeting, which took place at the Saudi Arabian Embassy on Scan Drive, Wilberforce, brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of the Saudi diplomatic mission.
Discussions focused on enhancing security relations between the two countries, including cooperation in counter-terrorism, combating transnational crime, and promoting peace and stability within the West African sub-region.
During the engagement, Minister Lengor presented the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Strategic Plan, outlining key operational priorities across its agencies and departments. He also appealed for Saudi Arabia’s support in implementing initiatives aimed at strengthening national security and institutional effectiveness.
The meeting highlighted the longstanding relationship between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia, particularly their shared commitment to tackling international drug trafficking and dismantling criminal networks operating across borders.
Ambassador Al-Musaed assured the Minister of Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Sierra Leone’s efforts to maintain peace, security, and stability. He pledged to give due consideration to the requests presented by the Ministry and expressed his country’s readiness to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As a symbol of friendship and partnership, both parties exchanged national emblems and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing collaborative defence and security strategies that safeguard citizens and contribute to long-term regional stability.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their intention to pursue a Security Cooperation Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would formalise the partnership and further strengthen institutional collaboration between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia.
