The Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, alongside the Director of Projects, Ing. Yankuba JusuTarawally, are currently participating in the four-day AfWASA Global Water and Sanitation Connect 2026, organised by the Hungarian Water Partnership in collaboration with AfWASA, which commenced today in Budapest, Hungary.
The delegation from Sierra Leone is led by the Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon, and includes key water sector leaders such as the Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, the Director General of the National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA), the Managing Director of Guma Valley Water Company, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, the Director of Water at EWRC, the Director of Projects at SALWACO, Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, the Director of Hydrological Services at NWRMA, and the Performance Tracking Manager at MWRS. This delegation reflects Sierra Leone’s strong commitment to advancing sustainable water and sanitation solutions through international collaboration.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Future of Water Together,” the international forum has convened water sector leaders, development partners, and technical experts to explore innovative solutions for sustainable water and sanitation service delivery.
Day One of the programme focuses on drinking water purification technologies, water treatment solutions, rainwater harvesting, and hydrological research. On Day Two, delegates will undertake a technical site visit to the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant to observe advanced wastewater management practices.
Day Three will feature participation in the Planet Budapest 2026 – Future of Water Conference, where delegates will engage in high-level dialogue and panel discussions alongside Hungarian and international partners, including the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA), European Water Association (EWA), and Global Water Partnership (GWP). The programme will conclude on Day Four with a guided sightseeing tour of Budapest, offering opportunities for cultural exchange and networking.
SALWACO’s participation, together with other Sierra Leone water sector institutions, highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, promote innovation, and foster strategic partnerships aimed at improving water and sanitation services nationwide.
