Dr. Thomas said that the ABC secretariat for the past six months has been working on pre-election education across the country. He continued to say that this education will continue into the post-election period.

Dr. Thomas however noted that the pre-election education which started during the voter’s registration period encouraged Sierra Leoneans to come out in their numbers to register, giving them the right to participate in the March 7 elections. He added that their sensitization campaign contributed to the high voter registration since Independence.

Dr. Thomas noted that the ABC secretariat has just concluded a nationwide campaign on the elections; preaching peace and denouncing violence in the country. He called on Sierra Leoneans to ensure that the election is free from all forms of violence and appealed for tolerance.

He further said that the aim of the ABC secretariat is to ensure that the elections end peacefully and the results accepted. He added that as a secretariat they will continue to talk to people and ensure their behaviors and attitudes are accepted in society.

“We hope that our continuous sensitizations will transform the attitudes of Sierra Leoneans for the socio-economic growth of the country,” he said.
