President of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ),Alhaji Manika Kamara, yesterday departed Sierra Leone for India on the invitation of the Indian Ministry of Publicity,extended through the Indian High Commission in SierraLeone.
The familiarisation visit, scheduled from January 13th to 23rd, 2026, is part of a broader initiative to strengthen ties betweenjournalists from Central and West Africa and their counterparts in India.
During his stay, President Kamara will engage with several leading media institutions across India, focusing on exploringopportunities for support, collaboration, and partnership in areas of media development, training, and exchange programs.
Speaking ahead of his departure, President Kamara emphasised the importance of building international networks for journalists: “This visit is a unique opportunity to foster collaboration, share experiences, and strengthen the role ofjournalism in promoting democracy and development across our regions”.
