The Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB) has held their first-ever Operational Staff Award to motivate their staff and celebrate exceptional, diligent and hardworking staff that ensured the smooth-running of the institution in 2019 in order to pave the way forward for the year 2020. The award ceremony was held at the bank’s car park at George Street in Freetown.

Human resource is a key component within the banking system that ensures the smooth operations of the banking system. As a way to appreciate the efforts of exceptionally hardworking staff, the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank has for the first time awarded outstanding staff within their system

According to the SLCB Deputy Managing Director, Mustapha Bockarie Kalokoh the purpose of the award ceremony is to motivate and inspire their hardworking staff to be more proactive and dedicated to their work this year 2020. He emphasized that this award ceremony has ignited more inspiration and energy from their staff, and that therefore, the management will henceforth make the award ceremony an annual event.

One of the recipients of the awards Fredericka Coker thanked her colleagues for voting her and appreciated the organizers for initiating such an inspiring ceremony that has created so much impact within the banking system of the SLCB. She described the event as a way to appreciate staff after a whole year of sacrifice.

Edward Bundu Kamara another recipient was recognized for his hard work and commitment to his job. He encouraged his colleagues to be hard working because hard work always pays back.

Most staff at the SLBC told AYV that they are pleased about the motivation and optimism that the award has created within the operational system of the bank. They added that they support management with its intention to make the event an annual one as it will help to motivate the staff.
