She further stated that the celebration would bring girls together from organizations, businesses and agencies with interest in girls’ empowerment in one place, so that secondary school girls in the country could get information on the many ways they could intellectually, professionally and physically empower themselves in a fun and informal way.
Meanwhile, the girl’s empowerment football festival and exhibition would be happening in the country for the first time.
The idea, Power Play, was create in 2015 by president of the FA and Memuna Forna, an emerging marketing communication specialist with interest to empower women and girls through football in Africa.
The report further stated that this year’s Confederation of African football in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund in Cameroon, African Union, Power Play and football federation had jointly launched the “the together against the marriage of young girls” campaign towards abandoning child marriages on the continent.
