The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has placed a ban on all internal flagbearer campaigns. The move according to the Party is aimed to foster stability, unity, and readiness as the SLPP prepares for another crucial electoral contest in 2028.
National Publicity Secretary of the SLPP, Moses Mambu said no member is permitted to officially declare interest in the flagbearer position at this time, noting that the decision comes amid growing rumors that some senior members, including government officials, are quietly positioning themselves for the role.
Mambu said reconciliation and unity remain top priorities for the SLPP as it sets its sights on the 2028 general elections, adding that elders of the Party recently initiated dialogue to address disagreements that surfaced after the Party’s last convention, including tensions involving the First Lady and the outgoing chairman.
Moses Mambu said, “The reconciliation process is not just about resolving disputes but about building a stronger foundation for the party’s future”.
He spoke on SLPP’s achievements under President Julius Maada Bio, particularly in education and the Big Five Game Changers, noting that the SLPP remains focused, disciplined, and far stronger than all its political rivals.
