The race to succeed President Julius Maada Bio as flagbearer of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has begun to take shape, as senior party figures and potential aspirants intensify consultations and positioning ahead of the party’s internal selection process.
“The SLPP is entering a sensitive transition phase,” said a political analyst in Freetown. “How the party manages its internal competition will determine whether it maintains unity or risks internal fractures that could affect its 2028 prospects.”
