It can be recalled that late last week the SLPP received a letter from the Sierra Leone Police inviting the Lahai Lawrence Leema to make a statement at the CID for allegation of disorderly behaviour and other charges as reported by the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

The party has encouraged its general membership to dress in their SLPP colours (green) as they accompany Leema to make his statement.

In addition, the SLPP National Young Generation has also called on the Sierra Leone Police to ensure it does all it can to dispense justice with Leema. The Generation made this call while addressing the press on recent attacks and physical assaults on the membership of the SLPP during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Freetown past Friday 10th November, 2017.

Speaking at the event, the SLPP National Young Generation Leader, Musa Peter Moigua called on the SLP to ensure that they dispense justice neutrally and fairly with the party’s National Publicity Secretary. “We call on the SLP to treat this matter fairly and in every situation try to carry out their activities neutrally as mandated by the Laws of this country. We trust the Police and see them as an integral part in consolidating our fledgling democracy. As youth of our party, we want to state that we strongly stand with him because we know he has always and will always continue to be a Law abiding citizen,” Moigua stated.

The SLPP youth leader further recalled that there have been a host of attacks on the SLPP membership over the years by allegedly members of the ruling APC party and some sections of the SLP. He confessed that the SLPP has underwent all sort of violence in the hands of the APC only because of maintaining and protecting national peace, security and stability, which he said the SLPP government of Late President Kabba spent a lot in building.

While making reference to Mohamed J. Kanu, a supporter of the SLPP who was strangled to death at Ogoo Farm in Freetown by thugs believed to be supporters of the ruling party, the Secretary General of the SLPP Young Generation, Emerson Kamara called on the APC party to stop the persistent attacks on the premises of the SLPP as well its membership.

Kamara stated that the APC as the ruling party must ensure it does all it can so as to conduct a violent free elections, adding: “As a law abiding party, we will always encourage our membership to desist from any form of violence, however, we call on the APC to stop the intimidation, harassment and embarrassment on our party and its membership.
