In the statement, the SLPP explained that while they do not wish to dignify any mischievous attempt by the purported NGC Global Communications Team to cause nuisance, they wish to reiterate that the content of the news report was factual and they stand by it.

The Unit went on that it is important to note that from the mischievous post circulated on social media when the purported NGC Global Communications Team contacted the Chairperson, Rupa Huq she did not deny the comment ascribed to her.

Similarly, the statement went on, from the email by the purported NGC Global Communications Team, Transparency International UK also confirmed that SLPP was in attendance.

“We want to note that as the main opposition party the focus of our campaign is to remove the All People’s Congress which has caused enormous damage to Sierra Leone and heaped too much suffering on ordinary people. We consider the frequent attacks by NGC on SLPP and its Presidential Candidate, Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio as misguided and can only serve to prolong the APC in Governance which will be worst for every ordinary citizen.”

The SLPP team went on that they are appreciative of the overwhelming support the policies of Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio continue to receive and the national debate it has generated focusing especially on education which has been destroyed under the APC.

The team vowed to use every avenue as they did with the All-Party Parliamentary Group session on Anti-Corruption to propagate the policies and to showcase our candidate as the only alternative to remove an APC Government which has lost the trust and confidence of the people.

“A matured opposition party does not add any value to its campaign by attacking another opposition party. The issues in the elections and challenges our country faces are too serious to reduce the debate to a distraction or mere attention-seeking antics by any new party” the SLPP statement ended.
