Over 4, 700 (four thousand seven hundred) strong supporters of the SLPP have completed their defection to the ruling APC and their membership status has already received the blessings of the Flagbearer and Presidential Candidate, Dr. Samura Matthew Wilson Kamara, who symbolically received processed membership documents of the new converts on Monday.

The converts are mainly from Constituency 101, Sorogbema and Makpele Chiefdoms in the Pujehun District.

Dr. Samura Kamara while addressing his new comrades, described the process as a genuine one, and added that it is as a result of the confidence the people have in the leadership and development activities of the APC that prompted their good decision. He assured of greater supports in Pujehun District under his tenure as President of Sierra Leone after the March 7 elections.

Dr. Kamara promised his party’s continued provision of good health, education, water supply facilities and good quality of life. Politics, he said means service to the people and assured that he will surely provide quality service to the nation as President of Sierra Leone.

Handing over the documents to Dr. Samura Kamara, the APC Pujehun District Council Chairman Candidate, Melvin Rogers, said the decision came after the people of Pujehun had realized that it is only the APC that has taken greater development projects in their communities. Rogers pointed out that his people appreciate the good works of President Koroma’s government and are confident enough that Dr. Samura Kamara will do more after he would have assumed the Number One Gentleman of the State after the elections. “These are people that are yearning for more development in their communities and they strongly believe that it is only the APC Government that will make their development dreams come true,” he said and added that Pujehun is no longer the stronghold of the SLPP.

Most of the new APC members interviewed described the SLPP as ‘an ungrateful party’ that is not ready to govern the country. They vehemently condemned the SLPP’s current moves of selling party T-Shirts to its supporters across the country at Le35, 000 (thirty-five thousand Leones) and Le30, 000 (thirty thousand Leones) for caps.

“APC has awarded symbols to our sons and daughters in the District and we will vote for them in the coming elections,” they said and added that the APC has sympathy for their status which is why it has been distributing T-Shirts and caps free of cost.

APC was praised for providing solar lights, hospital, radio station, GSM Communication services etc. which are some basic amenities required in any community.

They assured of giving all the Parliamentary and Local Council seats to the party and also vote in the presidential candidate.

Dr. Samura Kamara visited Zimmi, Fairo, Gendema, Sulima and other major towns and villages in Pujehun District. Dr. Samura Kamara with his campaign team has promised further visits in the coming days so as to cement the existing relationship with the people.

Mohamed Daramy, Chairman Mano River Congo ion Coba District in the Republic of Liberia, pointed out that he has mobilized lots of Sierra Leonean supporters for the APC, and assured that he will bring over 300 APC supporters from Liberia to vote on elections day. “I have personally converted four SLPP Supporters to APC,” he said.
