Giving the Technical requirement of the project, Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority Abdulai Aziz Kamara described Koidu in kailahun district as a commerce centre in the country and it residents have been lamenting over the deplorable condition of their roads. The road he said is a 27 kilometer expected to be upgraded as an asphaltic paved all weather roads and will be about 7.45 metres wide and with a quality shoulder of 1.5 on either sides.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Deputy Minister Momoh Vandi said such event marks significant miles stone in the infrastructural development of our country.
Paramount Chief Member of Parliament of Luawa Chiefdom in Kailahun district Honorable PC Mohamed Banya delighted with the project and said he expects his people and the contractors to work amicably, In the name of peace and development.
Pendembu Kailahun road which is the second phase of the Kenema-Kailahun road has been the recent to add in the roads rehabilitation list and which works contract have been signed at Statehouse, after being awarded to the China Henan International Cooperation (CHICCO) in Freetown.
According to many sierra Leoneans road construction has been one of the major projects undertaken by President Ernest Bai Koroma’s Government since it came into governance in 2007.
They further said many of these roads have been completed after undergoing either construction or rehabilitation.
The project is expected to last for two years as people are anticipating for it timely and standard completion.
