Explaining the rationale behind the crowning of the Executive Director as Road Safety Queen, the regional rout and Zonal Commander Tytus A.G Sesay said Dr. Sarah Bendu has been very extra ordinary in ensuring that safety sensitization and measures are put in place to protect the lives of road users.

He said road safety is an expensive thing in the world of which Dr. Bendu is pushing much resource into, adding because of the enthusiasm of the Executive Director in pushing road safety issues to ensure that the road is safe, they in the region thought it prudent to recognize her hard work and immense contributions.

Tytus said the honour bestowed on Dr. Sarah would serve as an eye opener to other institutions that lack the ability to reward people for their good work, adding that the queen will be recognized even by the world as a key contributor to road safety in Sierra Leone.

Expressing her profound thanks and appreciation to the eastern region stakeholders and the road safety authority for such honour, Dr. Sarah Bendu said she felt overwhelmed and flattered for the crown especially when she was not expecting such accolade.

She said though the award was never expected but it was given in the right direction so far as road safety is concerned because she has been trying her best to see that road accident is reduced drastically by putting a lot of mechanisms in place to help the authority and road users.

Dr. Bendu said her institution is one that is faced with a lot of challenges, but over the years has worked hard to see that road users know the dangers of the road and how they should make use of the road to avert harm.

The Executive Director congratulated the newly established road safety committee in the eastern region and admonished them to give their time and unflinching support the authority in sensitization and community engagement so that there will come a time when they also will be awarded for their good work.
