Communicating this disappointing development through an official press release signed by the Chief of Defense Staff Lieutenant General Brima Sesay, the MOD expresses deep concern over the allegation that further unambiguously named credible and fine officers in the persons of Major General Sullay Sesay, Brigadier A.Y. Kargbo, Brigadier U.P. Turay, Colonel R.S. Conteh, Brigadier Abu Conteh and Colonel Tee as being officers involved in the fake assassination plans.

The Force also condemned the SLPP allegation that the fake assassination plot is with the full knowledge of General Taluva, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff and Minister of Defense Paolo Conteh and that the named military officers have already been supplied with arms and ammunition including GPMGs.

The ministry of defense strongly condemns and takes great exception to these dangerous and misleading allegations that have the tendency to undermine the integrity of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces and also the peace and security of Sierra Leone.

The Force used the opportunity to reassure the general public of its unwavering determination to remain apolitical, professional and respectful to the constitution of Sierra Leone at all times.
