A flagbearer aspirant of the All People’s Congress(APC), Dr. Richard Conteh, has raised concerns over what he described as inconsistencies in the handling of an agreement that was presented to Parliament.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Wake UpSierra Leone on AYV Media Empire, Dr. Contehcriticized the manner in which the matter was managed, noting that the process surrounding the agreement appeared unclear and contradictory.
According to him, there were instances where versions of the agreement were taken to Parliament for consideration while discussions on the matter were still ongoing. He alleged that these versions were “doctored,” suggesting that changes had been made during the process.
Dr. Conteh further stated that despite the decision to present the agreement to Parliament, the process was later abandoned. He pointed out that attention subsequently shifted back to an existing law which, according to him, had earlier been criticized as inadequate and in need of amendment.
The APC flagbearer hopeful questioned the rationale behind returning to the same law after previously indicating that it was not suitable and required reform.
He emphasised that issues of national importance should be handled with transparency and consistency, especially when they involve parliamentary processes and public policy decisions.
Dr. Conteh made the remarks as discussions around governance, legislative processes, and political accountability continue to generate debate among political actors and members of the public.
