The United States Embassy in Sierra Leone has expressed open appreciation for the transfer of the Chief Administrator (CA) of the Freetown City Council (FCC) Festus Kallay to now serve as the new CA at the FCC’s neighbouring council of the Western Area Rural District Council.

The CA for that latter council, Mr. Rahman Tom Farma is now the new CA for the FCC.

Basically the two seasoned administrators were swopped in their positions. It can be recalled that Festus Kallay had faced a very severe sabotage and undermining of his office by the Freetown City Mayor Yvonne Aki Sawyer throughout the tenure of her First Term in office.

This had created an unpleasant working condition at the FCC. It is now hoped that with the swopping of the two CAs, the environment at the FCC under the re-elected Mayor Yvonne Aki Sawyer will be more productive.

It is against the above backdrop that the United States Embassy shared the following words on Twitter yesterday:

“Congratulations to Rahman Tom Farma on his appointment as the new Chief Administrator of the Freetown City Council and best wishes to his predecessor Festus Kallay as he assumes new duties as Chief Administrator for the Western Area Rural District Council. These new appointments offer an opportunity to rebuild constructive working relationships among all parties and ensure that local government is inclusive, responsive to citizens, and building national unity”.
