As Chairman of the Inter- ministerial Committee on Local Government, he said he will endeavour to open the political space, strengthen the process of decentralization, local revenue generation capacity and promotes cordial relationship between Local councils and Chiefdom authorities so as to enhance rapid mobilization of resources and development in the regions.

Dr. Jalloh who also decorated the elected Mayors at the well-attended and colourful ceremonies, reminded the local councils’ functionaries about the importance of the occasion, the responsibilities and trust reposed in them by their electorates and entreated them to put party politics aside and work with the central government to ensure its development policies are fully implemented. Speaking at the ceremonies which were attended by senior government functionaries, party stalwarts  and the general public, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Anthony  Brewah who also administered the Oath of Office, described ceremony as a unique opportunity for the Local council functionaries to contribute to the development of their communities and urged them to do their utmost to ensure that trust and confidence reposed in them are not misplaced.

Elected Mayors from the various regions on behalf of their compatriots, thanked government and people of Sierra Leone for the confidence reposed in them and promised to serve them in the best interest of peace and development. They catalogued a number of achievements made so far and challenges facing their regions and looked forward to government and other development partners for support.
